Respond to the “DNA Age” Readings

In approximately 300-500 words respond to the “DNA Age” readings. Please feel free to read your classmates’ blogs and responses.

You can discuss one article at length or bring in several articles to cover one topic. Do not summarize the articles. We’ve already read them and don’t need to be told what they are about.

Here are some ideas for writing:
1. Would you want to know your DNA mapping? Why or why not?
2. Would you have a double mastectomy or some other kind of surgery if DNA testing suggested you were predisposed to getting breast or some other kind of cancer?
3. What if you found out that you would get a disease like Huntington’s which is fatal, what would you do with your remaining years?
4. How can DNA testing lead to prejudice---not just racial prejudice but prejudice against anyone who was “different”?
